As a project manager I enjoyed the teamwork and accomplishing our common goals. Every ticket down was like a home run. But a personal challenge I experience in my role as a project manager was working with others emotions. When people put their heart and soul into their work they’re protective of it and rightfully so. But in a team setting the work is not a single persons but a collective effort. With that in mind I found it difficult to be the bearer of bad news when the client requested changes after the team had worked so hard on a task. That’s when being agile is an important strength in a team setting. I felt I had the strength to communicate the clients needs while at the same time truly understanding the teams hard work. Having been a cheerleader I knew how to cheer my team on because I believed in them. Moving forward I would work on my ability to manage my intake of others emotions. When a team member felt down I felt down. I learned I take on others feelings when I can’t change them. I learned I can’t help everyone, but those who ask for help will definitely receive it.
